It also includes an introduction to jumping foundation work and a quick introduction to most of the agility obstacles. PUPPY PERFECTED (Level 2) CLASS: Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 pm. Started August 9th. Six-week course, $125

Recommended for graduates of our puppy class or pups 6 to 9 months old who have gotten started with their training at home or elsewhere. This class will focus on teaching a variety of critical concepts that will come in handy later in your dog’s career — whether that career is to be the best companion or whether you also have sport or performance goals for your dog. It will include: Basic Obedience exercises, the Power of Choice, Appropriate Play for exercise and self-control, Recalls, Heeling foundations, Object Interaction with a purpose, Stays & Waits, Focus: Handler vs Forward, Listening Skills, Fitness & Balance challenges and more. Instructor: Tracy Hanna
HEAD START PUPPY CLASS: Tuesdays 7:15-8:15 pm. Started August 2nd. Six-week course, $125
Help your pup develop into a calm, capable adult through training in self-control, drive-building, basic obedience and exposure to new sounds, surfaces, objects, people and dogs. First class is an orientation for the humans (no dogs). Next 5 classes are for humans & dogs. Household members are welcome as well. Not your typical puppy class! It’s packed with content and activity to get your puppy started right. Class includes basic Obedience (Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Come, Leave It, Walking On Lead and developing Attention) as well as an introduction to a few agility obstacles and other objects. The Orientation prepares you for the training that will begin at home & continue in class starting week 2 & is your opportunity to ask questions about problem issues like jumping, barking, chewing & housebreaking.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN AND THERAPY SKILLS: Tuesday 8:30-9:30 pm. Started August 9th. Six-week course, $125.
The CGC test is offered by the AKC and requires dogs to pass a 10 part examination, demonstrating their obedience skills and tolerance to handling and strangers. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass a 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Many dog owners choose Canine Good Citizen training as the first step in training their dogs. The Canine Good Citizen Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events and trains skills such as polite greeting, sit, down, come, stay, polite walking on leash, dealing with distractions and more.
Therapy dogs are dogs that visit schools, nursing homes, and hospitals bringing a message of love and cheer. They should have proper greeting manners, leash manners and be able to tolerate dogs and strangers in their environment as well as some vigorous body handling. To work as therapy dogs, most organizations require teams to pass an evaluation or pass the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. Come learn the requirements for each of these examinations and hone your skills in preparation for them or just to practice good manners so your dog is welcome in the community.
