If you are new to training with Paws in Motion’s instructors, you will also need to call or email so that we have your contact info on file. Reserve your spot today, so you can join in on the fun. Drop-ins may be allowed if there is space, but the workshops may be rescheduled if no one signs up.
You want your dog to respond when you call every time and under any situation so you must first build up their desire to come to you. In this workshop we will use PREMACK’s Principle (If you do what I want, you will get what you want) in many games and exercises to teach your dog to WANT to come to you. Learn how to use your dog’s natural tendencies to your recall’s advantage! This Workshop is open to dogs of all levels and ages. Limited to 6-8 Working Teams. Please bring lots of tiny treats that your dog can easily swallow.
Instructor: Sheyla Gutierrez, CPDT-KA
Many of us dream of having a large yard and great equipment to train our dogs on. In fact, many actually have it, but even if you do, weather can always put a damper on your plans. The truth is you don’t need much space or even a yard to be able to train your dog – all you need is a hungry dog and a bit of creativity! Come learn some fun training games and exercises you can practice with your dog – inside the comforts of your own living room, even from your comfy chair! Get some ideas for rainy day activities to tire out your canine partner, learn some indoor conditioning exercises, work on proofing many of the most important basic obedience behaviors, even get some ideas for indoor dog agility training!!! Want to teach your dog to work away from you? It’s a necessary skill for agility, competition obedience, rally and other sports. By use of targets we will teach your dog behaviors that require distance and help them get comfortable with working away from you. Instructor: Sheyla Gutierrez, CPDT-KA
Balance and body awareness are key elements for the canine performance athlete. They also offer valuable lessons for the dog that is insecure with its surroundings and unsure about unfamiliar things. Whether you have a dog that needs to learn where its rear end starts for agility training or heel work, have a nervous dog that you’d like to help be braver, or simply want to stimulate your dog by playing with unfamiliar equipment, there’s something in this class for you! We will be playing with stools, ladders, balance disks, balance beams, blocks, and anything else we can think of! This is also a good introduction to capturing and shaping behaviors and play with unfamiliar objects. Come join us for a fun evening of body awareness play with your dog!
This will be a very hands on and work intensive workshop, so please bring LOTS of treats and make sure you haven’t fed your dog! We will provide several balance toys and objects for you to share!
Instructor: Sheyla GutierrezPractice your dog’s good manners in the real world with real distractions and in the presence of several other dogs. Cost $25 per session, typically held twice a month. A great class for Control Unleashed graduates & others just wishing to train & meet other dog lovers. Email us to be added to the notification list for the next class dates.
